Gideon Moi Plotting A Walk Out From OKA Alliance, Sets Up Parallel Campaign Secretariat

Fresh details have lifted the lid on the behind the scenes happenings within the OKA coalition, which suggest that the four-man-headed team will not survive to 2022.

It consists ANC boss Musalia Mudavadi, Gideon Moi of KANU, Moses Wetangula of Ford Kenya and Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper), who had initially vowed to stick together.

But this might not happen, with Moi, after Mudavadi, now being said to be preparing to take his first shot at the presidency, a debut bid he has began readying himself for.

The Star has learnt that the Baringo Senator has since put together a think tank of technocrats working on his blueprint, which will be made public once he officiates his bid.

The paper has established that the team of six has been working silently for close to three weeks now, it’s operation headquarters being within the Kilimani area of Nairobi county.

KANU Secretary General Nick Salat, a close Moi ally, confirmed that the party will be in the presidential contest, but didn’t confirm if the Senator will be it’s flag bearer.

“As Kanu, we are going to have our own presidential candidate in 2022, the name of our candidate is going to be unveiled before the end of the month,” he told the paper.

He added that OKA has outlived it’s usefulness and it’s time to move on, further adding that the announcements being made by the other leaders are not comforting.

“Oka would only have survived if BBI went through. It was reliant on BBI. With the two missteps at the High Court and the Court of Appeal, the situation does not favour Oka. It is time for Kanu to repackage itself and go out there to speak to Kenyans directly,” he added.

Moi was initially seen as a President Uhuru Kenyatta representative in the camp, and has been very close to ODM boss Raila Odinga, another aspirant, to the extent of holding meetings with him.
