Fresh details have emerged on Kenya’s best student in the 2012 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) Tony Edgar Odongo’s untimely death.
Tony’s family in the eulogy, revealed more details on how their son was found helpless with deep cut wounds before he succumbed to the injuries at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Hospital in Kisumu County.
Reports by Standard news house indicated that the family revealed that their kin (Tony) left home on 10 August, 2021evening to go for a nature walk and failed to return home on time as usual forcing his brother to give him a call inquiring about his whereabouts.
The diseased reportedly informed the brother that he was within the neighborhood and would be back home soon, but he did not show up as he told the brother prompting his family to call him again and this time around his phone was off.
The brother then called a friend who is said met with their kin earlier and he could not reach him as well.
The family said this posed fear on them as their kin would always be home before the 10 pm curfew containment measure set by the government to curb the spread of covid-19.
The family further revealed that Odongo’s friend who was driving from Waondo to Homa Bay Town noticed a familiar figure at the stage when he slowed down and realised it was Odongo who was badly injured and he rushed him to the hospital after Odongo whispered his mother’s phone number.
Odongo’s mother asked the friend identified as Jose to rush his son to Homa Bay District Hospital where he was later transferred to the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Hospital in Kisumu.
He got admitted to the casualty wing where he succumbed to the injuries.
“I received the communication from his immediate brother who told me that Tony had passed away. He had suffered deep wounds in the head and the body.”
“The bruises were so deep but we are not yet aware whether the injuries were inflicted by assailants or after an accident. His family is currently with the body at Jaramogi Referral Hospital,” his step-brother, Odongo Odol reportedly stated.
