Fresh Twist As Raila’s Ally Joins Kalonzo In Campaign Trail In The Ukambani Region

Things have taken an interesting turn after one of the allies of ODM leader Raila Odinga from the Rift Valley region was spotted in the company of his rivals and 2022 opponents in the Lower Eastern region.

Kajiado governor Joseph Ole Lenku is among leaders who accompanied the OKA brigade to Ukambani for campaigns of Eisho Mwaiwa, the Wiper party candidate in the Nguu-Musumba Ward race.

Interestingly, the county boss is among the leaders Raila is banking on to hand him the Maa vote in his next year’s presidential bid, and one who has openly said that he is in the former Premier’s corner.

“We are here as handshake partners to rally our support behind Raila as president. We will walk this road with you because we know we will be well represented,” he said when himself and other Maasai leaders met Raila last month.

There are also reports that he is among Raila’s new pointmen in the larger Rift Valley region, alongside among others, Elgeyo Marakwet governor Alex Tolgos and Lee Kinyanjui of Nakuru.

The others, according to The Star, are Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina, Narok North MP Moitalel Ole Kenta and Uasin Gishu politician Kipkorir Menjo.

But Lenku was among the leaders who were in the company of Kalonzo, ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi, Ford Kenya’s Moses Wetangula and former Cabinet Minister Cyrus Jirongo in Ukambani on Monday.

Its worth noting that these politicians are considered a threat to Raila’s presidency, considering that they are keen on facing him and Deputy President William Ruto in the fast approaching contest.

They have made it clear that they will battle it to the end, reportedly rejecting attempts by President Uhuru Kenyatta to have them once again back Raila.
