As reports of the ruling by the Court of Appeal in the case about the Constitutional Amendment Bill 2020, popularly known as the Building Bridges Initiative, BBI, began streaming in on Friday night, and spilled over to Saturday morning, a curious tweet by the former Machakos First Lady and governor Mutua’s ex-wife, Lilian Nganga Mutua, was lost in all the melee. However, the governor’s recent birthday party has now brought new attention to the post which threatens to blow the lid wide open on the divorce that has so far been scripted to look like a civilised and amicable parting of ways.
Despite the fact that the Machakos governor has been among one of the biggest and most prominent proponents of the Building Bridges Initiative, when it suffered its latest devastating defeat in the Court of Appeal, Lilian Nganga quickly posted,
Big win for Wanjiku. Big win for Kenya! Reaffirms the fact that power lies with the people. My wish is that the same justice is served in the lower courts for cases not in the limelight.
This latest development raises more questions about the split by the two of which, so far, no substantial reason has been given. Possibilities of it having been a split caused by political differences now seems all the more likely.
This telling tweet was then followed by a dramatic barrage of tweets that unfolded 48 hours later after the much famed birthday party of her former husband.
A day after his big birthday party which included famous personalities, he began sending appreciation messages to some of the people who had been involved in making the party a success. One of the recipients was Lilian, whose message read,
Dr. Alfred Mutua
Thanks @LillyanneNganga for encouraging me to host my birthday party. It was my first ever birthday party and it was better than I expected. The music, company and ambiance was amazing. Thanks to all my friends, the good wishes and positive vibe from good people.
However, just like his other tweets which were ignored by his other guests, this too went totally ignored by Lilian.
