An electronics website has today been exposed for swindling Kenyans off their hard earned money. The company, that uses its social media accounts to con unsuspecting Kenyans, has been posting various electronic appliances up for sale on their pages. The website, that uses the name Bruhmea Ltd and a Bruhmea.com website, was last week exposed by a distraught customer for swindling him off Ksh 3000.
Kenyanreport.com can now authoritatively report that Bruhmea Ltd, that operates a website and have a presence in Facebook and Instagram, is a fake company. The Bruhm brand belongs to Somotex Kenya Ltd who are the licenced owners of the brand. Somotex is legally authorized to operate under the brand in Kenya and other African nations.
A representative of Somotex Ltd reached out to us after getting wind of the countless complaints by Kenyans.
“We have noticed that there is a website operated in the name of Bruhmea.com and also they have presence in Facebook and Instagram. Bruhm brand belongs to Somotex Kenya Ltd and we are the authorized owners and sellers of the
brand in Kenya and few other countries in Africa. The above mentioned website and social media pages has been opened by few unknown people using from our website, brand logo, advertisement and product pictures quoting low prices and misleading customers with intention to con and make fast money. This page is no way related to Somotex or Bruhm and once we noticed the same we have reported the same to Cyber cell of DCI Kiambu wherein case is registered for faking our website and other
materials. Investigation is on and should get the culprits behind this soon,” Read the statement by Somatex Ltd.
The company has since contacted the Directorate of Criminal Investigations to bring the perpetrators to book. Somatex Ltd lodged a complaint with the DCI requesting for the apprehension of the fraudulent scammers for faking their website and other materials.
“This page is no way related to Somotex or Bruhm and once we noticed the same we have reported the same to Cyber cell of DCI Kiambu wherein case is registered for faking our website and other materials. Investigation is on and should get the culprits behind this soon. The above said website can be contacted only through Whatsapp messaging and have no valid
phone number wherein customer can contact them. Also, the address mentioned in the website of Likoni International Hub is fake and they are not physically present in the mentioned address. We have noticed that customers have fallen prey to the con and once they pay the money to the
Paybill number provided on the website they block customer and no further contact can be done with these cons,” read the statement in part.
Bruhm Limited has cautioned its esteemed customers not to fall prey to the cons, stating that they only use their website for brand marketing and not for selling products.
“Bruhm does not sell products through our official website which is only for brand marketing and product knowledge to the customers. We sell goods through our online platform www.electromart.co.ke , other online platforms, supermakets and dealer shops,” they assured their clients.
Bruhm has commited to help customers who were gullible enough to fall for the scammers fraud reach out to investigative officers. The fake website is currently under scrutiny and further transactions with them is highly discouraged.
