Four people were killed and several others seriously injured after they were involved in a grisly road accident along the Eldoret-Webuye Road in Bungoma County.
The accident which happened on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at the Kaburengu Bridge involved two trucks, a pick-up and a station wagon.
Bungoma East traffic Police boss Idris Halkaalno confirmed the incidence stating that there bodies were burned beyond recognition in the crash.
Witnesses at the scene of the accident revealed that the accident occurred after one of the lorries veered off the road and rammed into the other vehicles.
The video from the scene of accident shows one of the lorries caught fire after the collision.
Reports indicate that the accident happened after the lorry’s breaks failed causing it to ram into the pick-up and the station wagon killing all the occupants of the two vehicles on the spot.
The station wagon, a Toyota Probox, caught fire that spread rapidly burning the already dead occupants beyond recognition.
The second lorry also caught fire but firefighters from the County managed to contain it before it could spread further.
The Kaburengu Bridge has been in the news over the years over the ever rising number of fatal crashes.
This comes after a speeding petrol tanker rammed onto a matatu killing all the 11 occupants at the Kaburengu junction on Webuye-Eldoret road two years ago.
The area police boss confirmed the incidence stating that there were no survivors in the crash.
