Former TV presenter Lorna Irungu Macharia succumb to Covid-19

Veteran TV Presenter Lorna Irungu Macharia has passes on from Covid-19 related complications.

This was revealed by her family who said that she died of Covid-19 related complications.

Ms Macharia was a long-time television presenter and Director of the Gina Dina Group.

NTV news anchor Dan Mwangi took to his social media page and posted a message revealing that Lorna Irungu has been a Lupus survivor for over 20 years and had undergone several kidney transplants.

“Lorna Irungu-Macharia has succumbed to Covid-19; the former Gina Din Group Managing Director, who was also a media personality, has been a Lupus survivor for over 20 years and had undergone several kidney transplants,” Mwangi. 

Her husband, Edwin Macharia also announced her death after he posted a heart breaking message on his social media page as friends and family added their condolences.

She hosted the Omo-Pick-A-Box show alongside Regina Mutoko that was popular in the 1990s. She hosted the show alongside Regina Mutoko. 

Tourism CS Najib Balala said on Twitter: “It is with great sadness that I have learnt of the passing on of Lorna Irungu. Lorna was a good friend and a true professional in the media and communications field. May her soul rest in eternal peace.”

Lorna has left behind her husband Edwin and a daughter.
