Former Kuria East Member of Parliament Shadrack Manga is dead.
Manga has died of cardiac arrest at the Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi at the age of 81.
His death was announced by his son, Andrew Manga who stated that the former legislator died on Thursday, March 25, 2021 while receiving treatment at the Aga Khan Hospital.
Mr. Manga was rushed to the hospital on Monday last week after he collapsed in the house.
He was born in 1940 at Nyamutiro village in Kuria East Sub County and served as the Kuria East MP from 1992 to 2002 before he lost to Wilfred Machage.
The deceased contested for the same seat in 2013 and won. He then opted to retire from politics.
President Uhuru Kenyatta said Kenya and especially the residents of Kuria will forever cherish his contribution to the socio-economic development of the region.
“I remember his commitment and devotion in creating a better environment for our people to participate in economic development when he was a member of Parliamentary Committee on Finance, Planning and Trade. Indeed, he was a focused and committed public servant who will be remembered for his wise counsel and steadfast leadership,” President Kenyatta said.
The President described the late Member of Parliament as a consummate debater whose contributions enriched Kenya’s legislation agenda and parliamentary oversight.
“We have lost a brave leader whose contribution to the country’s economic growth will be remembered for generations to come.” He added.
The family said that the burial plans for the departed former lawmaker are underway and will be communicated in due course.
