Footballer Mariga back in Kibra, to vie as MP in 2022 [Photos]

Football legend and former Harambee Stars skipper McDonald Mariga has returned to Kibra after months of staying following a humiliating loss in the November 2019 by-elections. Mariga, who ran on a Jubilee Party ticket and was seen as a William Ruto candidate was back to give Christmas gifts as well as announce his plans for the future.

In the 2019 byelection, Mariga faced off ODM Party’s Benard Imran Okoth, brother to Ken Okoth, and Eliud Owalo of the ANC Party. Owalo has since decamped from ANC to William Ruto’s camp.

According to some sources, Owalo, who was Musalia Mudavadi’s top strategist was promised support in 2022 by William Ruto on the Kibra seat. It will be interesting to watch Ruto dump footballer Mariga, whom he campaigned for in Kibra and promised to back in 2022.
