US based Federal Bureau of Investigations have finally opened up contacting the family of the Somali-American business man explaining their withdrawal from investigating the death of Bashir.
Bashir an architect mysteriously disappeared after lastly being seen from Lavington’s Mialle lounge, with the body later found at Kerugoya level 5 hospital after it was picked from river Nyamindi.
Speaking on Monday 24, 2021, the investigative authority stated that they had full trust in the Directorate of Criminal Investigations to deliver in the case that had attracted much attention.
This after news was out on Friday, May 21, 2021, that FBI agents had trooped in at a Nairobi station to closely follow the case.
The agents thereafter met the businessman’s family and explaining their degree of involvement in the case, adding that they would only be fully involved if requested formally.
A post mortem done on the body yesterday by the government pathologist Johansen Oduor at Umash funeral home indicated that the slain businessman died of strangulation before his body was dumped.
The report further showed that Bashir was tortured owing to the injuries in the head, burn marks on his body, and his toenails plucked off before his death.
“It is with heavy hearts that the family of Bashir Mohamed Mohamud informs you that the body of Bashir was found at Kerugoya Level 5 hospital. As the family processes this tragic news and plans for his burial, they request that they be afforded privacy.
“Even as Bashir rests, the family shall not rest until justice has been served and those responsible for his death brought to book,” the family, through its lawyer Charles Madowo urged DCI to expedite the case.
Police also explained the reason why the took so long to identify the body by use of his fingerprints owing to his disfigured face.
