Ex Governor’s son to face 3 months jail

Brian Ndung’u, the son of Former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu was on Monday March 15, 2021 sentenced to a 3 month jail term or pay a fine of Ksh. 30,000 by a Nairobi Court.

The Nairobi Court has found Brian Ndung’u guilty of driving under the influence of alcohol.

Ndung’u was arrested by the police during the early morning hours of Monday, March 15, 2021 driving along Nairobi’s Muindi Mbingu street while drunk.

Ndung’u pleaded guilty to the charges before Nairobi Senior Principal Magistrate Esther Kimilu and requested the court to forgive him.

The Nairobi Senior Principal Magistrate ordered him to pay a fine of Ksh.30,000 or be jailed for a period of three months.

During an interview with K24 tv, the 25 years old said that he will not ask for any financial assistance over the case from his parents.

He however claimed that he has raised Ksh. 10,000 from his personal savings to help him pay the fine.

This comes after the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Noordin Haji had ordered for the arrest of his father, the Former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu on corruption charges way back in July 2019.

His wife Susan Wangari alongside his firstborn daughter Monica Njeri were also asked to present themselves for interrogation over the loss of Ksh. 588 Million public funds.

The statement that was released by the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) Noordin Haji revealed that the procedures of awarding tenders for the upgrading of some roads in Thika, Limuru, Gatundu North, Juja and Ruiru sub-counties were not followed.
