Emotions run high in Raila Joho closed-door meeting with heated exchanges

A heated argument was witnessed today in the morning in a closed-door meeting where ODM leaders met to discuss the aftermath of the Msambweni by-elections.

Raised voices coupled with blames and counter blames marred the meeting in which ODM leader Raila Odinga, Mombasa governor Ali Hassan Joho met with other leaders for a post-mortem of the Msambweni mini polls.

Reports indicate that the leaders bandied words over the causes of the loss that saw DP Ruto’s backed candidate Feisal Bader trounce ODM favorite Omar Boga to become the next Msambweni legislator.

Among those in attendance at the morning meeting held at the Diani Reef hotel includes, Likoni MP Mishi Mboko, Kwale Senator Issa Boy, and a host of ward representatives from the Coast region.

Feisal garnered a total of 15, 251 votes in a hotly contested poll to beat the ODM candidate Omar Boga who got 10, 444 votes in the contest that attracted eight candidates.

Feisal an Independent candidate was declared the winner by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission returning officer Yusuf Abubakar, on Wednesday night, December 16, and issued with a certificate.

The seat was left vacant after the death of former legislator Suleiman Dori after a long and unsuccessful battle with cancer.
