About just a month ago, a deadly spat erupted between the former Vice-president Kalonzo Musyoka, and his successor, William Ruto. Each accused the other of serious criminal acts, and the case was even dragged to the DCI. However, it was former Lands CS Charity Ngilu that shut down the whole thing with just a single bold statement in which she defended Kalonzo.
Previously, the DP had publicly claimed that Kalonzo illegally acquired his Yatta farm. This resulted in a vicious reply from Kalonzo, who in turn accused him of various illegal misdeeds.
However, things seemed to be finally settled when Ngilu weighed in on the matter in her capacity as the former CS for lands saying that she herself had personally looked into the issue when she was still Lands CS, and had found nothing illegal by Kalonzo.
Now the latest statement from the former Majority Leader in the National Assembly has given the entire episode a new different twist.
He was speaking on an interview on KTN News in which he was hosted by Ken Mijungu.
Aden Duale claimed that back during Jubilee’s first term, then nominated MP Johnstone Sakaja, and Nairobi MP Dennis Waweru were in the process of making a presentation before parliament which implicated Kalonzo in the land grab, and as Majority Leader, Duale said that he was privy to information that the two members of parliament were being given details by then Lands CS Charity Ngilu.
Before the current thawing of relationship between Kalonzo and Ngilu, the battle for the supremacy of Eastern politics had caused them to be bitter opponents, their rivalry even famously degenerating into a public physical spat, when Ngilu refused to shake Kalonzo’s hand, despite relented efforts by Kalonzo.
In the wide ranging interview, Duale also dismissed the new political formation of Mudavadi, Kalonzo, Wetangula and Gideon that’s taking shape as a union of KANU orphans.
He also disclosed that he was currently in the process of writing a memoir.
