A drama was yesterday witnessed in Kirinyaga County when the police in the region disrupted a United Democratic Alliance Party event that was scheduled to take place in the region.
This is after the security officers in the area disrupted the event that was organized by the County woman representative Purity Ngirici and her husband Andrew Ngirici claiming it it was an illegal assembly.
Addressing the Journalist yesterday, Kirinyaga County Police Commander Leah Kithei said that the police had not been informed about the meeting that was taking place in Kerugoya.
The woman representative an ardent supporter of the deputy President William Ruto had organized for the event as a mobilization effort for the party supporters in the region.
Purity Ngirici the woman representative and her governor Anne Waiguru have been on warring paths since their elections to the respective positions.
Their differences have always displayed publicly, having a public spat on their abilities and capabilities to dispense their sworn duties, with the most recent being Waiguru’s stand on the Building Bridges Initiative referendum.
“Now, some have started changing the tune and propose a collaborative process, we know what they are seeking is a political mileage. Is she not among governors who criticized Murang’a Senator Irungu Kang’ata for revealing to President Kenyatta that BBI was unpopular in Mt Kenya?” Ngirici criticized,
This comes amid cries from the Deputy President allies that they are being intimidated and frustrated by people in the higher positions of the government, for their association with the second in command.
Ngirici has been rumored to be one of the women Deputy President William Ruto has been considering for a running mate ahead of the 2022 polls.
She recently faced auctioneers after reportedly failing to settle part of the debt with a helicopter hiring company during her 2017 general election.
