Drama has erupted after a woman claiming to be Matungu MP Justus Murunga’s girlfriend surfaced with two children sired by the MP and moved to court to stop his burial.
The middle-aged woman identified as Agnes Wangui Wambiri filed a suit at Milimani law courts claiming that she had a sexual relationship with the MP which resulted in the birth of their two children.
According to Agnes, they were in a 7 year relationship that began in 2012.
“I first met the deceased in 2012, when he was a supervisor at the Embakasi Ranching,” she said in her affidavit.
The mother of two recounted that she was approached by the lawmaker in Embakasi where she was selling snacks and beverages.
Love blossomed and the lawmaker soon moved her to Ruai where he rented an apartment for her in 2016.
“He told me he was living in Utawala, Nairobi with his wife, Christabel. In 2016, he rented me a house in Ruai, where I lived with my son.
“The deceased used to pay our monthly [house] rent and child maintenance. Mostly, he would send me money via M-Pesa.” Added the woman.
Agnes added that the MP was keen on keeping their relationship private and began avoiding her after winning a parliamentary seat in August 2017.
“The deceased never wanted the public or his family to learn about the existence of the two children, and, as a result, refused to give me copies of his ID card so that I could process the children’s birth certificates. However, after engaging him in a series of talks, he resumed supporting the minors, though in an irregular manner until his death on November 14.” She added.
