Months after President Uhuru Kenyatta experienced the same in Nairobi’s Lucky Summer, Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i became the latest victim of VIP security breach in the Country.
This is after his security was yesterday Wednesday September 8, 2021 breached while attending a function in Kisii County in the company of other officers.
In photo’s that have since gone viral on Social media and seen by Kenyan report, a woman snaked through his security and made her way towards a helicopter that had ferried the CS to the function.
Reports indicate that the middle- aged woman was seeking an audience with the outspoken cabinet secretary who was by then disembarking from his helicopter.
Taking no chance and in a quick reaction to the situation, the matter prompted his security officers to spring into immediate action to arrest the situation.
Among the security authorities were, Kisii County Commander, Francis Kooli, with the assistance of his junior officers, who moved in to block the woman from getting to the helicopter.
The vividly determined woman, however, resisted against the four police officers who tackled her, insisting that she wanted to speak to the interior CS.
She was however overpowered by the security officers and later frog-matched to a nearby police vehicle, with the CS proceeding shortly after the uncalled for drama had died down.
Reports privy to his itinerary indicates that the interior CS was in Kisii to lay a foundation stone at Ibacho Level Four Hospital, thereafter heading to Nyamira County where he launched the Igena Itambe Hospital.
Matiang’i was witnessing the kick off of a national government project to refurbish and equip maternal and newborn units countrywide in a bid to eliminate preventable maternal and newborn related complications on the rise in the Country.
The incident happened just months after President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Motorcade was forced to make an abrupt stop midway in Lucky Summer after a mad blocked the road seeking audience with President Uhuru Kenyatta.
His officers would then arrest the man shortly after ensuring the President was safe, but later let go of him after the head of state intervened.
