Deputy President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party has issued a notice revealing their plans to repair the Gachie Road in Kiambu County.
The UDA party has called upon the residence and well-wishers to donate stones, murram, sand, shovels, graders for the exercise. The donations can be in kind, where individuals can choose to pay the volunteers for the service for a particular number of days.
“My friends and I are forming FRIENDS OF GACHIE ROAD.Today we will be hiring 500 young men and women who will repair this pathetic road manually for five days,” the poster read.
United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party’s Digital Strategist, Dennis Itumbi took to his social media page and posted a message expressing his confidence that the party will repair the bad state Gachie road.
“We will fix this Gachie Road manually.” Itumbi stated.
Itumbi called upon interested individuals that are manual workers, volunteers and donors to apply by sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
The process is expected to be completed within five days.
However, Political analysts view the UDA’s move as a strategy to woe residents to vote for their candidate, John Njuguna Wanjiku in the forthcoming Kiamba by-election given that Gachie Ward is located in Kiambaa Constituency.
The Kiambaa parliamentary seat fell vacant following the death of the area Member of Parliament Paul Koinange.
The Kiambaa by-election will be a face-off between theJubilee party candidate Kariri Nyama and UDA party’s John Njuguna Wanjiku.
Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria’s Peoples Empowerment Party (PEP) party had nominated Raymond Kuria as its candidate, However he withdrew from the contest in favour of UDA’s candidate.
