In what appears as an attempt to consolidate support ahead of the 2022 general election, Deputy President William Ruto was today holed up in a closed-door meeting with a host of political leaders drawn from the various political parties at his Karen home.
Taking to his Social media account shortly after the meeting, Dr. detailed the content of the meeting that revolved mainly around empowerment programs to the Kenyan poor, dubbed the hustler nation.
During the meeting, the DP challenged the leaders to always employ combined effort in tackling the challenges that affects the Millions of Kenyans.
The second in command also warned against engaging in divisive politics, while preaching broad based approach in interventions geared towards uplifting the poor.
“Leaders should combine efforts and commit to confronting the challenges facing millions of households in the country. Rather than engaging in divisive politics, they should be visionary and embrace inclusive and broad-based interventions in the economy that will uplift the poor.” Wrote the DP
The DP team also unanimously agreed to back Abdul Yusuf Haji to replace his father Yusuf Haji in the upcoming Garissa senatorial by-elections.
“Met Members of Garissa County Assembly from Jubilee, ODM, UDA and KANU at the Karen Office, Nairobi County. Discussed empowerment programs for the Hustler Nation and agreed to back Abdul Yusuf Haji for Garissa Senator in the upcoming by-election.” Continued DP Ruto.
The seat fell vacant after the death of General Yusuf Haji on the February 15th, 2021 at the Agha Khan hospital after a long illness at the age of 80 years old.
