Deputy President William Ruto once again met the roadside seller who sold him maize, extending a hand of kindness after their second meeting yesterday Wednesday July 21, 2021.
Speaking from Machakos Town yesterday, the Deputy President acknowledged their meeting with Elizabeth Mueni, adding that they agreed to take back her daughter to school who was struggling with school fees.
Her daughter had just finished class eight, and had not managed it to secondary school, with the DP stating that they had agreed with Mueni to make proper arrangements to ensure they take her daughter back to school.
Dr. Ruto also noted that during the meeting, Elizabeth the roadside hawker also voiced concerns of servicing a loan that the DP promised to help her settle.
To also extend the same hand to other fellow traders, Mueni convinced DP Ruto to also organize a meeting with the fellow traders in Machakos town.
Talking during the meeting, Dr. Ruto noted that his focus was how to improve the lives of the majority of Kenyans who were hustling to fend for themselves.
“A meeting was organized and we met. She told me she does business, she told me what her stock was worth, she said she has a loan. She said she has a child who finished class eight but she could not raise her school fees. I told her to bring that child so that we can take her back to school,” Ruto stated.
Among those present during the meeting were MPs Victor Munyaka (Machakos Town), Vincent Musyoka (Mwala), Nimrod Mbai (Kitui East) and Rigathi Gachagua (Mathira).
The woman sold Deputy President William Ruto maize at a roadside kiosk during his previous visit to the Machakos town, connecting the two afterwards.
She would later visit the second in command at his Karen residence on Friday, July 9, 2021, in the company of Mwala MP Vincent Kawaya (Mwala) Victor Munyaka (Machakos Town).
“It was such a pleasure meeting Elizabeth again. We agreed to keep talking, and that both of us will keep fighting for her dream to come true.”
“She visited me today and shared her story; a story of persistence, hard work and devotion. Mama Mueni’s dream is to give her two children a different life- a good life,” Ruto remarked after the meeting.
