Details have emerged that all close family members of Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga have tested negative for Covid-19.
Raila’s family members and employees at his Karen home including house-helps, drivers and bodyguards went to get tested after the former Prime Minister was diagnosed with the Corona virus on Thursday, March 11, 2021 at the Nairobi Hospital.
This was revealed through a statement by Raila’s Communications Director Dennis Onyango who stated that the result of covid-19 for all Raila’s close relatives and friends as well as his family who had turned out for the test is negative.
“All those close to Raila, including family members, took a test and they have all tested negative,” Raila’s Communications Director Dennis Onyango stated.
Mr. Onyango also stated that the former Prime Minister was responding well to treatment but he will still remain in hospital for a few days as his doctors continue monitoring him.
“He is okay and stable. He is likely to stay a few days longer in hospital depending on what his doctor advises. All his family have tested negative; the family was not around when he arrived from the Coast,” Onyango stated.
However, Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Director of Communications Philip Etale announced that he had tested positive for the virus.
Etale took to his social media page and posted a message revealing that he has tested positive for the corona virus.
“I remain strong, determined and in high spirits. By His stripes, I will triumph. I will be healed. Please pray for me dear friends. In God I Trust,” Etale said.
This comes after Raila was admitted to the Nairobi Hospital on Tuesday, March 9, 2021 after complaining of body ache and fatigue.
His doctor, David Oluoch Olunya, on Thursday, March 11, 2021 confirmed that Odinga was suffering from SARS-COVID19 but was responding well for his treatment.
“He is responding well to the treatment at the Nairobi Hospital and remains upbeat. We are continuing to monitor his progress,” Dr. Oluoch said.
