President Uhuru Kenyatta has met with ODM party leader Raila Odinga and One Kenya Alliance (OKA) principals at State House in Mombasa County.
The President held a meeting with ODM party leader Raila Odinga and OKA principals including; Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper), Gideon Moi (KANU), Musalia Mudavadi (Amani National Congress), and Moses Wetangula (Ford-Kenya) on Tuesday, August 10, 2021.
Reports reveal that the agenda of the meeting was for Uhuru to unite the five top political leaders in order to form a strong team to face Deputy President William Ruto who has fallen out with the President in 2022 presidential election.
“The Head of State was concerned by the disunity exhibited by the Opposition politicians, and wanted to implore upon them to forge a united outfit that would compete against the DP,” a Government official stated.
Kakamega Governor who is also the ODM Deputy Party Leader Wycliffe Oparanya also attended the meeting.
The meeting came days after Mudavadi, Wetangula, and Kalonzo exited the National Super Alliance (NASA) accusing the Raila led ODM party of bullying and betrayal.
Ford Kenya party Organising Secretary Chris Mandu had earlier confirmed that his party leader Moses Wetangula, had received an invitation for the meeting.
Sources revealed that the meeting was also meant to discuss on matters affecting the country, besides the plot to form a united front against DP Ruto.
The head of state is reported to have been pushing for a united team who will battle it out with his deputy in the forthcoming 2022 general election.
