Details have emerged on the lives of Jonathan Mukundi and Philomena Njeri, the couple that died in controversial circumstances.
Kenyan Report has pieced together the couple’s last days alive, sheding some light into their marriage, their separations, claims of infidelity, Njeri returning home pregnant for another man and their tragic end.
Although the motive of the killing is yet to be unravelled, many claim it was a case of love gone sour with a friend to the deceased detailing the couple’s tribulations.
A look at Njeri’s Facebook accounts clearly shows that she and her husband loved life and were a happy couple.
A close friend of the deceased, who sought anonymity, told a section of the press that the woman had deserted her matrimonial home for more than five months.
During the separation, she became pregnant for another man who had for a long time been believed to be her boyfriend.
“She had returned home on Monday heavily pregnant and a serious quarrel ensued over the matter,” the man said.
The deceased are said to have been together for about 10 years but were yet to be blessed with children.
The 42-year-old man was a licensed gun holder and the police were alerted by one of the businessman’s friends after his (Mukundi) failure to pick his calls, prompting the law enforcement officers to visit the house.
“The officers from Kiambu Police Station proceeded to his house where the bedroom was found locked. The door was broken and the bodies of the said Jonathan Mukundi Gachunga, a Kikuyu male adult aged 42 years, and his wife namely Phelomena Njeri, adult aged around 30 years, were found lifeless (sic),” read the police report in part.
Police officers who rushed to the scene found a mini glock gun at the scene.
