Machakos Senator Boniface Kabaka passed on today, Friday 11 Dec 2020 after spending close to a week in ICU.
The Senator spent his last minutes alive battling for his life after contracting Covid-19 following a controversial date with a woman identified as Esther Nthenya Muli.
The Senator was admitted to the facility a week ago after he reportedly collapsed while in the company of a lady identified as Esther Muli.
As captured in the video below, KTN reports that the Senator succumbed to Covid-19 related complications, bringing to rest suspicion of foul play that was also dismissed after tests confirmed that the senator was not poisoned as earlier suspected.
The deceased is survived by two wives.
Rumours surfaced yesterday indicating that the lawmaker had passed on at a time when he was still alive, prompting one of his wives to clear the air.
“We wish to inform the People of Kenya and Residents of Machakos County in particular that Senator Hon Boniface Mutinda Kabaka, Advocate is recuperating at Nairobi Hospital.
“Please avoid or ignore the distressing rumours and fake news and continue praying for the full recovery of our brother, father, friend, pillar and senator. Thank you for the support so far,” a statement from the family read.
He was rushed to the facility on 04 Dec after a night with a woman identified as Esther Nthenya Muli.
It has since emerged that Esther Muli who is a teacher by profession had requested for sick leave to get a doctor’s appointment before making her way to Nairobi where she was caught up in the drama that saw the Senator rushed to Nairobi Hospital.
Muli, who is the Deputy Principal and Kiswahili teacher at Mathemba Secondary School in Makueni County, requested the leave on Wednesday, December 2.
She is reported to have left the school at 5 PM after consulting the principal Mr. Isaack Mutua and after obtaining permission not to report to work the next day.
“She left in the evening after work. She had permission not to report on Thursday, December 3, and was supposed to see a doctor,” an insider disclosed while speaking to the Standard.
Whether she had an appointment with a doctor or not remains unclear. What is known is that she made her way to Nairobi and joined the Senator at 3Dee apartments where they ordered drinks and food.
Reports indicate that on the same day she checked into the appartment where the senator was waiting for her, Esther Muli called the school on Thursday, December 3, requesting to extend her sick leave as she had been referred to a hospital in Nairobi.
Police launched investigations into the incident and arraigned Miss Muli in court with authorities seeking to detain her for seven days to investigate attempted murder.
The 45 year old teacher was however set free after results failed to detect any poisoning as earlier suspected.
Kabaka reportedly collapsed at an exclusive apartment in Kilimani area in the wee hours of Friday morning. He was in the company of a woman, later identified as Esther Nthenya Muli.
The Senator is said to have driven himself to 3Dee apartments and was later joined by the lady.
