CS Magoha: 11 Education Officials arrested for leaking KCSE Exam

Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 disclosed that the government had arrested 11 education officials from Nyanza and North Eastern regions over exam malpractice.

During a press briefing, the Education CS revealed that 11 examination officials including centre managers, supervisors and invigilators had been arrested over the following KCSE exam leakages.

Magoha warned that the Ministry was on the look out to ensure that no irregularities took place. He added that the exams could not be tampered with without the Ministry detecting.

“I wish to assure the country that these attempts to access the examinations have not interfered with the credibility of the examinations as the exposed questions were never accessed by the candidates,” Magokha stated.

Magoha also disclosed that the Ministry was pursuing examination officials who exposed the contents of Agriculture Paper 1 to some candidates on Wednesday morning, April 14, 2021.

“Firm action will be taken against the perpetrator,” the CS vowed.

He implored all officials working under the Multi-Agency Examinations Monitoring team to continue being vigilant in looking out for any irregularities until all candidates completed their exams.

“All the remaining examination materials will remain safely kept to ensure the sanctity of the ongoing examinations,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Ministry assured all parents that the government had put measures to ensure a smooth travel for all candidates to their home Countries, especially those that were going in and not of the restricted areas.

On Monday, April 12, 2021 Magoha noted that Covid-19 curve seemed to be flattening and asked Primary and Secondary School students and parents to prepare for school reopening set for next month.

He announced that students would most likely be required to return to school on Monday, May 10, 2021 stating that the school calendar might not change.
