Kayole residents engaged police officers in a running battle after reports emerged that one of the officers killed a resident over curfew containment measures to curb the deadly disease that has sent the entire world into a panic.
Kayole residents on Thursday 19 August took to the streets to protest after it emerged that patrolling police officers had clobbered a resident on Wednesday 18 August at night over curfew violation.
A man identified as John Kiiru was reportedly clobbered to death by patrolling officer for violating the 10 pm-4 am curfew regulation that the President extended for sixty more days.
Reports indicated that the casualty was riding a Boda Boda home when police officers arrested him and in the scuffle that ensued, the body rider who was riding the victim home managed to escape.
Reports further indicated that the diseased sent a text message to his wife after being arrested at around 12.30 indicating that his apprehension by law enforcement officers at Tushariane Stage.
On Thursday morning, his body was reportedly found at the scene where he was grievously beaten and left to succumb, the protesters immediately got into action calling for justice for the departed soul.
The disgruntled youths took to the streets, barricaded roads, and lit bonfires as the police lobbed tear gas on the protesters.
