An arrest warrant has been issued against former Cabinet Secretary Peter Munya in connection to the infamous Arror and Kimwarer dams case, which involves a staggering sum of Sh68 billion.

Milimani Law Courts Magistrate Eunice Nyutu took this step after Munya failed to appear in court for his scheduled testimony.

The arrest warrant, issued on Thursday, demands Munya’s presence in court by 11:15. The warrant underlines that his arrest is still valid, indicating the seriousness of the matter.

The case, which has been pending for years, centers around alleged misappropriation of funds designated for the construction of the Arror and Kimwarer dams.

A dedicated multi-agency team comprising investigators from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, regular police officers, and officials from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission, has been mobilized to track down Munya. This collaborative effort highlights the government’s determination to resolve the case and bring those responsible to justice.

Munya’s role in the case is notable. In 2019, he provided crucial information concerning the Arror and Kimwarer dams. This information played a significant role in the subsequent removal of former Treasury CS Henry Rotich from office.

Munya’s testimony implicated a senior cabinet official who allegedly exerted pressure on him to approve a substantial amount for the dam projects, contributing to the ongoing controversy surrounding them.
