Bungoma Woman Rep Catherine Wambilianga involved in an accident

Bungoma Woman Representative Catherine Wambilianga has been involved in an accident in Bungoma County.

Wambilianga and seven other people were injured in an accident on Monday while at the home of Ford Kenya parliamentary aspirant for Kabuchai Constituency Majimbo Kalasinga at Sikusi in Bungoma.

They got injured during the last day of campaigns for the Kabuchai parliamentary by-election after a vehicle that was part of their entourage lost control and rammed into them.

“The vehicle lost control and rammed into us. The driver wanted to engage the reverse gear but accidentally engaged front gear instead,” Wambilianga said.

The women rep sustained a broken limb and two fractures on her leg and was rushed to Life Care Hospital in Bungoma town where she is currently receiving her treatment after a successful surgery.

Fred Sanane, a communications officer in the Woman Rep office confirmed the incident saying Wambilianga was in stable condition and out of danger.

“It’s true that she was involved in an accident. She has two fractures on her leg,” Sanane said.

According to an eye-witness who was present at he scene of accident, revealed that the accident happened as the leaders were receiving Ford Kenya party leader Moses Wetang’ula.

“Wambilianga and seven others sustained injuries when a vehicle that was part of their entourage lost control and rammed into them as they were receiving Ford Kenya party leader Moses Wetang’ula,” Mulongo, an eye witness said.

The Woman Rep said she is in stable condition and will be discharged by Wednesday.
