New details have emerged that a section of Orange Democratic Movement leaders from Embakasi East Constituency has defected to Deputy President William Ruto’s led United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party.
Nominated Senator Millicent Omanga on Sunday 22 August asserted that Raila Odinga’s led Orange Democratic Movement grassroots leaders from Embakasi East have ditched the ODM party.
The vocal legislator through her Twitter handle page asserted that the ODM members from Embakasi East who joined the DP’s led team have expressed their willingness to support the Hustler’s Nation agenda.
The lawmaker further stated that the members have also demonstrated that they will support the bottom up economy model and ensure the model is given an opportunity.
“I have received ODM grassroots leaders from Embakasi East who have ditched and joined the largely growing party UDA, ” Omanga stated.
“They have expressed their willingness to support the hustler agenda and make sure the bottom up economic model is given an opportunity come to the next general elections to transform lives of millions of Kenyans,” the lawmaker added.
“We have also agreed to walk together in my political bid,” Omanga asserted after reportedly having a meeting with the ex ODM members.
This came as the ruling Jubilee Party is holding talks with the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) to form a coalition ahead of the 2022 general election.
President Uhuru Kenyatta and the ODM chief have enjoyed political cooperation after they buried their political differences in 2018.
