City lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi has now informed that he is willing to support the Orange Democratic Movement leader Raila Odinga in the fast-approaching general polls but under one condition.
The renowned lawyer is currently considered one of the affluent leaders working with Deputy President William Ruto who has shown interest in running for the country’s top seat in the 2022 general elections.
The lawyer has now said that he is willing to dump his camp and join the opposition camp and support it’s a candidate on one the condition that the African Union Special Envoy for infrastructure Raila Odinga’s name will not appear on the ballot as the camp’s flag bearer.
Taking to his Twitter handle page, the City lawyers argued that he will support a reunion of the National Super Alliance (NASA) Raila, Amani National Congress leader Musalia Mudavadi and Wiper Democratic leader Kalonzo Musyoka only if the former prime minister is the running mate of either Kalonzo or Mudavadi.
“Although I’m a JUBILEE party diehard, I will consider supporting Musyoka and Mudavadi as Presidential candidates in 2022 on condition that Hon Raila is the running mate,” reads Ahmednassir tweet.
The lawyer’s sentiments came amid reports that President Uhuru Kenyatta is working on reuniting the three NASA principals and their Ford Kenya counterpart Moses Wetangula after the three leaders’ called it quits with the ODM Chief.
As things stand right now the three leaders are yet to show any sign of accepting working together again, with Mudavadi seen as the most stubborn.
Inside sources privy to what is going on in Mudavadi’s inner circle revealed that Mudavadi has maintained that he is not ready to support Raila’s presidency again unless he is ready to support him and in the next polls.
“Sharing government between the two with Mudavadi as the candidate is the only way to beat Ruto, or else the DP will carry the day,” ANC deputy Ayub Savula told reportedly stated.
With Raila who has sought for the country’s top seat for the longest time, Ahmednasir’s condition seems impossible because Raila is unlikely to rally behind another person and settle for the lower seat.
The ODM chief seems to have the support of the Head of State, which has seen some of Raila’s allies have to hope that he is now assured of the country’s top seat.
