2020 has been a sad year for Kenyan politics with several political heavyweights taking the final bow
It all began earlier just before Covid-19 made matters worse, with prominent figures succumbing to the virus.
Below is a list of some of the big names we celebrate and lost in the year.
The former head of State Daniel Arap Moi
Coupled with old age complications, the former head of state passed on at the Nairobi Hospital on 4th February 2020 after months of on and off to hospitals.
He was laid to rest a week later on 8th February 2020 at his Kabarak home next to his late wife Lena, after the body lay in state for three days.
Ramadhan Sheif Kajembe
The former Changamwe lawmaker passed away on the 7th August 2020 at the Coastal’s Pandya hospital of Covid-19 complications a fortnight after the death of his first wife Mama Aziza Kajembe.
He was buried the next day at a family cemetery in Jomvu according to the Islamic doctrines and in strict compliance with Covid-19 regulations.
Joseph William Nthiga Nyagah
The former cabinet minister and pentagon Member passed away at the Nairobi hospital’s Doctors plaza wing on December 7th, 2020 due to Covid-19 complications.
His burial is slotted for tomorrow Saturday 19, 2020 next to his grandfather, at Kamutungi village in Mbeere South Sub-county, Embu under his strict directives and in compliance with the laid Covid-19 regulations.
Justus Makokha Murunga
The former Matungu Member of Parliament died on 14 November 2020 at Mumia’s St Mary’s Mission hospital due to Covid-19 complications.
Prior to this, the legislator had been ailing from diabetes for weeks and had sought treatment at Kisumu’s Agha Khan Hospital. He was laid to rest on December 5th, 2020 at his Matungu home.
James Mukwe Lusweti
The former Kabuchai lawmaker passed away on December 4th, 2020 at the Nairobi hospital after a long and unsuccessful battle with gout and arthritis complications at the Nairobi hospital.
The burial plans are underway and planned to take place at his Kabuchai home.
Machakos Senator Boniface Mutinda Kabaka.
The former Machakos County senator passed away at the Nairobi hospital on December 11 2020 where he was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit after developing breathing complications.
Nyamira Governor John Obiero Nyagarama
The former Nyamira County Governor passed away today December 18 2020 in the morning at the Nairobi hospital where he was airlifted days ago for treatment after developing breathing difficulties as a result of Covid-19 complications.
