Ahead of the 2022 elections, ODM party leader Raila Odinga has assembled a powerful machinery, backed by billionaires to outdo Deputy Presidenbt William Ruto who has made it clear that 2022 will not be a walk in the park.
Although he is yet to declare interest in the 2022 contest, well placed sources close to Odinga have on numerous sources revealed that the ODM party leader could be in the contest.
In preparation for the ultimate face-off, Odinga is believed to be assembling his troupes, bringing billionaires on board ahead of the 2022 contest.
Billionaire Jimmy Wanjigi who crossed over to Odinga’s side in 2017 after supporting the Jubilee duo of Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto is expected to come through for Odinga once again.
Wanjigi who made his fortunes in business is expected to break bank for Odinga, giving the rival Tanga Tanga camp that has its fair share of billionaires a run for their money.
ODM deputy party leader Hassan Joho is definitely an asset Odinga is glad to have in his corner.
Apart from his great mobilization skills and great appeal across the country, Joho is also expected to bring in his billionaire brother Abu Joho (real name Said Abdalla) who is expected to flex his financial muscles to support Odinga.
That the vocal trade unionist is a man of means and with great mobilization skills is not in doubt.
The COTU boss has already endorsed Raila Odinga to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022.
He is expected to come through for the former Prime Minister, mobilizing votes and dipping into his pocket to ensure that Odinga floors his competitors should he choose to contest.
Mount Kenya billionaires
Odinga currently enjoys a close relationship with several leaders allied to President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Among those in Odinga’s corner are David Murathe, Charles Njonjo and Peter Kenneth who are believed to have the blessings of State house.
Apart from their financial muscle, Odinga’s Mount Kenya allies are also expected to help in marketing him in the vote-rich region.
Several billionaires who supported DP Ruto and Uhuru Kenyatta have since severed ties with the second in command.
Among them is billionaire businessman Zedekiah Kiprop Bundotich alias Buzeki who joined Isaack Ruto’s Chama Cha Mashinani.
Reports indicate that a powerful alliance is in the offing to bring CCM into Odinga’s bandwagon, netting in the billionaire businessman.
