4 DP Ruto’s allies have been arrested

Four leaders allied to Deputy President William Ruto have been arrested for allegedly intimidating voters during the ongoing by-election in Kabuchai Constituency, Bungoma County.

The tangatanga leaders who have been arrested by the Police Officers include; Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei, Members of Parliament Didmus Barasa, Wilson Kogo and Nelson Koech

They were arrested on Thursday March 4, 2021, shortly after escorting the UDA party candidate Evans Kakai to cast his vote and taken to Bungoma Police Station for interrogation.

However, the four leaders have denied the claims by the police that they were carrying weapons in their vehicle to with a view to cause chaos and disrupt voting exercise.

This comes after Police had launched a manhunt for Former Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa after he was caught on video slapping an Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) official in Matungu Constituency, Kakamega County.

Echesa had accused the IEBC official (Peter Okura), of chasing one of their agents at the Bulonga Primary School polling station.

In a video that was shared online on Thursday, March 4, 2021, the former Cabinet Secretary for Sports was seen angrily lecturing the official demanding to know why he had chased their agents before removing his mask and slapping him.

“Our agents are outside the polling station my friend. You cannot chase our agents outside. Why are you chasing them outside? Uliambiwa by who?” Echesa said.

“Sheria inasema call all the agents to witness sio kuita individual,” he added.
