10 arrested for siphoning fuel at a godown in Nairobi.

10 suspects have been arrested after being found siphoning fuel at a godown in Rangwe road.

The operation that was carried out by detectives from DCI seized over 25,000 litres of diesel and 1,300 litres of petrol at a notorious siphoning den within Nairobi’s Lunga Lunga area.

Confirming the incident, Makadara police boss Timothy Odingo said that the officers from the DCI were acting on a tip-off from members of the public.

He said four lorries and a pickup siphoning materials, five generators, 108 drums and several 20 litres jerricans were also confisicated.

The motor vehicle have been detained at Lunga Lunga police station and all exhibits secured, as the suspect will face charges at Makadara law courts.

“We have impended the vehicles and the tools that they were using as we investigate to see whether were other people involved in the illegal trade. If there are, we will arrest them. We believe this has been going on for a long time,” Mr Odingo said.
