Former National Intelligence Service (NIS) official and 2027 presidential hopeful Patrick Osoi has weighed in on the trending photos of key leaders from the Azimio la Umoja–One Kenya Coalition meeting without their leader, Raila Odinga.
The meeting, held on Thursday, July 18, 2024, comes amid the coalition’s opposition to President William Ruto’s recently announced dialogue forum.

The gathering featured prominent coalition figures such as Martha Karua of Narc Kenya, Kalonzo Musyoka of the Wiper party, Eugene Wamalwa of the Democratic Action Party-Kenya (DAP-K), and Charity Ngilu.

Martha Karua, a notable political stalwart, shared the photos on social media, captioned “definitely not boarding,” indicating their firm stance against the proposed talks.

Patrick Osoi, while appearing on K24 on Friday, offered his perspective on the meeting, attributing it to the increasing influence of the Gen Z generation.

“This is the Gen Z effect. These leaders must restructure and rethink their political strategies because the algorithm has been distorted by the Gen Z effect,” Osoi remarked.

As a young leader himself, Osoi expressed solidarity with the youth’s demand for change, emphasizing the need for older politicians to adapt to the new political landscape.

“Personally, I am a youngster, and even though I have spoken earlier about my presidential aspirations, I can’t say I want to become the leader of Gen Z because I am just an aspirant and in solidarity with what we are advocating for, which is change,” he stated.

Osoi urged the seasoned leaders to embrace the younger generations, suggesting that doing so would allow them to leave the political stage with honor.

“It’s time to tell the leaders who have gone ahead of us to embrace the young generations. They will leave the political stage with a lot of honor. But as long as I am concerned, as a young leader, it will be really hard for them to penetrate in 2027,” he asserted.
