Did President Uhuru Just Said Raila Tosha?

After months of being under pressure to publicly endorse ODM leader Raila Odinga, President Uhuru Kenyatta has come out to give the clearest indication that he will back his handshake partner.

Speaking in Kibira on Wednesday where he was accompanied by Raila, President Kenyatta indicated that he preferred the Opposition Chief as his successor.

He noted that he wanted to leave the country in the hands of someone who would continue with his development plans once he retires.

While making the declaration, the President heaped praises on Raila for accepting to work with him through the handshake.

“When we came together, didn’t we experience peace? So where is the problem? Isn’t that what we want? Don’t we want that work to continue? It is up to you. Will you make wise choices? Let us see how you will do it,” the President told the jubilant crowd.

“I am thankful for you because your former MP… when we came together, wasn’t there peace? And after peace there is development… then what is it we want if not the peace,” he added.

President Uhuru further noted that it was time for the country to support his unity bid with Raila and see the importance of peace and unity.

The subtle endorsement came after a group of tycoons from the president’s backyard endorsed Raila for the country’s presidency come 2022.

The business leaders from the Mt.Kenya region hailed Raila as one person who stands to protect the interest of the region come 2022.

The endorsements will be a big boost for Raila who is counting on the region to back his quest to lead the country.
