Busia gubernatorial aspirant Vincent Sidai has declined a contract renewal at the Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) as he sets his eyes on unseating current Busia Governor Paul Otuoma in the 2027 general elections.

In a press release sent to newsrooms, Sidai who served as General Manager for Infrastructure Development and later as General Manager for the Port of Lamu, said the decision was orchestrated by his desire to fully concentrate on his Busia gubernatorial campaigns.

“I am ready to serve the people of Busia with firmness, fairness, and friendliness. My vision is clear—to transform Busia into a benchmarking county in Kenya,” Sidai stated.

The seasoned civil engineer and public service expert emphasized that after years of serving the country at the national level, it was time to bring his skills and experience back home.

He underscored the need for efficient, accountable, and people-centered leadership in Busia.

Sidai, who previously failed to vie for the Busia governorship in 2013 after being accused of selling the seat for millions, called on the residents to support his bid and uplift him in prayers, promising to offer transformative leadership if elected

As the race to oust Governor Otuoma who has lost popularity in Busia following repeated accusations of corruption and lack of development gains momentum, Vincent Sidai joins Principal Secretary in the Executive Office of the President, Arthur Osiya, who is widely mentioned as a potential contender for the county’s top seat.
