The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has come out to issue a statement regards claims that it has issued a direct ticket to an aspirant in the Lang’ata MP race subbing comedian Felix Odiwuor alias Jalang’o who is a front runner in the race.
On Saturday, a section of Kenyans took to Twitter to speculate that Jalang’o had been shoved aside in favour of another aspirant for the Lang’ata seat.
Without giving any concrete sources for their claims, tweeps claimed that ODM had shortchanged Jalang’o with its ticket in favour of its favourite aspirant.
Twitter user Rodgers Mpuru said: “I warned my friend Jalas of party primaries, but he took my piece of advice as a joke…”
Jaloka (@_felsl1) said: “ODM wamefanyia Jalas ile kitu (ODM has shortchanged Jalas?).”
Book Ten (@Bookten8) said: “My boss Jalas has been denied [the ODM] ticket. We are going [to run on an] independent [candidate ticket].”
On his side, Jalang’o has however refuted the claims noting that no aspirant has been issued the ODM party ticket.
“This Langata seat must be special, we haven’t been given or denied the ticket and we are trending at No 1…🤣🤣🤣…Langata 1,” Jalang’o said.
Jalang’o is set to battle for the ODM with Oscar Omoke Ocholla and Musila Kaiga Siong’o in the race to fly the party’s ticket in the August election.
