President Uhuru Kenyatta makes another secret visit to Kisumu

President Uhuru Kenyatta has made another secret visit to Kisumu where he inspected various government projects.

The president is said to have flown to the lakeside city on Wednesday after to inspect the ongoing construction of a modern shipyard by the Kenya Defence Force (KDF) soldier.

During the visit, President Uhuru was accompanied by Chief of General Staff Robert Kibochi with whom they were updated on the progress of construction.

Surprisingly missing from the inspection was ODM leader Raila Odinga and Kisumu County Governor Prof Anyang Nyong’o who normally accompany the head of state during his visits to the region.

The visit was also highly guarded as the media and local business elites were also barred from entering the port where the president was making the inspections.

The modern ship which is being built by the Kenya Navy will upon completion be one of the largest shipyards with a slipway in East Africa.

After finishing the Kisumu inspection in Kisumu, the president is said to have later flown to Mbita where he also inspected the ongoing dredging work in the area.
