Former National Assembly Speaker Franci Ole Kaparo has accused his estranged wife Mary of physically abusing him.
Kaparo who is involved in a bitter divorce case with his wife of 40 years claimed that Mary has caused him physical and emotional torture in an unprecedented measure of cruelty.
He also accused the wife of being unfaithful and a perennial liar.
His accusations come after the wife told Kiambu Law court that she wanted to divorce Kaparo for being an absentee husband and a constant cheat.
“The respondent (Kaparo) denies the allegations of cruelty and adultery. It is the petitioner who has been guilty of adultery and desertion,” Kaparo said.
“I have been severely affected by the respondent’s inhumane treatment, dishonesty and immoral character and eventual desertion of the matrimonial home,” she said.
She told the court that she had tried to salvage their marriage for a long time until recently when Kaparo officially decided to live with the Kiambu woman.
“On several occasions, the respondent disappeared from the matrimonial home for a long time without explanation at all, and he eventually went away,” she said.
Mary is seeking to divorce Kaparo so that she can protect her right to the vast matrimonial property they jointly acquired.
