Kenya’s First Business Channel that will entirely be dedicated to help you make informed business decisions has officially been launched.
Metropol TV is a 24 hour free to air Business Channel that will focus on investment opportunities in the Country and the Continent. Metro pol TV has been on air since December 2018.
The launch comes afew days after the newly appointed General manager Terryanne Chebet joined the team at Metropol TV from Fanaka TV to steer the station to greater heights.
Terryanne has grown her own brand in business journalism sphere and is credited with identifying and building successful business news teams across local and international business channels. Without a doubt, she will lead the Metropol TV team in delivering cutting edge business journalism.
During the launch at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Nairobi, the Information, Communication and Technology ministry said the time is ripe for a 24 hour business channel that will provide content that Kenyans wants.
Speaking on behalf of ICT Cabinet Secretary Joe Mucheru, ICT Principal Secretary Jerome Ochieng said, “Digital Migration has placed power in the hands of Kenyans who are now demanding for content that they want. Consumers are now driving the agenda.. We really welcome your decision and hope your channel will build its audience in Kenya and beyond,” said
The new channel has tapped among others former Fanaka TV chief executive Terryanne Chebet and stock market trader Ally Khan Satchu.
The general Manager, Terryanne Chebet, said the launch of the station was a result of weeks of “sweat and tears” from the Metropol team.
“We want to educate we want to inform, we want to challenge and we want to inspire,” said Terryanne.
The former Citizen TV business anchor also said the station would provide a language style that will be “simple, but not simplistic” so as not to lock out anyone.
“Somebody has to take charge in redirecting our national narrative. We want our young people to experience a new kind of hero and role model. The entrepreneur? The wealth creator? We want to challenge young people to start saving. And we want to challenge them to begin making sound investment decisions,”she said.
