Kieni Member of Parliament Kanini Kega has reiterated his support for former Prime Minister Raila Odinga ahead of the upcoming polls set for August this year.
The two term vocal legislator and key ally of President Uhuru Kenyatta in the Mt Kenya region has said he will continue traversing the whole country in popularizing Azimio la Umoja movement agenda in a bid to make Odinga Kenya’s 5th President of the republic of Kenya.
“Despite the propaganda from UDA sympathizers I will not be swayed in changing my overwhelming support for Baba whom I will do everything to convince Kenyans especially the good of people of Central to endorse his candidature. He means well and his track record when he served with the retired President Kibaki during coalition government speaks for itself. Azimio will form the next government and that’s not even debatable” he said
The Budget and Appropriations committee chairman has been part of cabal of politicians dubbed as The Sky Team, which comprises a few governors and MPs crisscrossing several parts of the country to attend campaign rallies in selling the manifesto of Orange Democratic Movement leader.
He further noted that Mt Kenya region which traditionally rejected Odinga will rally behind his bid and he will continue countering deputy president William Ruto’s hustler nation influence in the region, saying Kenyans are now ready for the Raila presidency.
According to the vibrant legislator, the peace that is currently being experienced in Kenya is a product of the handshake that was entered between the head of state and the opposition chief which is the main reason informing their support for him.
“Raila needs to be rewarded because the country is experiencing peace following his handshake with president Uhuru,” remarked Kega.
On Sunday, April 10, reports emerged that Kega, who is one of Raila Odinga’s point men from Mt Kenya had allegedly told the region that the Jubilee party does not trust Raila Odinga despite campaigning for him.
According to reports, Kega while speaking to Nyeri county residents on Saturday, April 9, allegedly told them that they settled on Raila Odinga since they had no better option.
It is reported that the MP urged Nyeri residents to elect their leaders on the Jubilee party ticket as one way of ensuring they have numbers and a say in Raila’s government should they form a government.
