Mathare’s Bob Munro resurfaces with acryptic message hours after huge friendly win over the weekend

Football Kenya Federation Premier league (FKF-PL) side, Mathare United roared back to life with a 4-0 win over Dandora Youth, in a match staged at MYSA Komarock Stadium.

The Slum Boys are yet to feature in the 2022-23 Football Kenya Federation Premier League, FKFPL season which enters week 2 this weekend as they await the outcome of the relegation/promotion case before the Sports Dispute Tribunal, SDT.

“”For more than seven months, uncertainty has hovered over this great club. Our future in competitive league action has been in limbo and much has been written about this. But two weeks ago there was a change in fortune as work began – behind the scenes – towards restoring the face of Mathare United in Kenyan football,” Mathare said in a statement.

“And the first fruits of this labor were witnessed on Saturday when our new look line-up, composed of new and old faces took to the pitch for the first time since April 16, for a friendly against Division Two side Dandora Youth FC at the MYSA grounds in Komarock.

“The match ended in an emphatic 4-0 win with new recruits Mark Khwasira, Curtis Wekesa and Lennox Ogutu marking their first and second debuts for the club with a goal apiece. Old boy Douglas Kibet also had his name on the score sheet. Preparations will continue as we await the Sports Disputes Tribunal (SDT) ruling on our participation in the new 2022/23 FKF Premier League season.”

April last season when they withdrew from the league, then run by the FKF Caretaker Committee, citing lack of funds. They were, however, handed a reprieve when the SDT ruled that the league was not run in accordance with the FKF constitution. Subsequently, following the reinstatement of the FKF Executive, the league was totally scrapped. The decision has since been challenged at the SDT.
