ODM leader Raila Odinga, on Tuesday, took social media by storm after he was spotted in some of the most expensive sneakers ever made.
Presiding over a youth even at the University of Nairobi, Raila stormed the stage clad in SB x Air Jordan I Low Dark Powder Blue. The sneakers, according to the Nike website, go for $110 (an equivalent to Sh12, 188).
Legendary designer Eric Koston is the one who designed Raila’s sneakers. The sneakers feature a long vamp, swoosh, and full leather on the top. They also have a Dark Powder Blue colorway. On the inside tongue label of the sneakers, you will find Koston’s signature.
These shoes trace their heritage back to the ‘80s when Michelle Jordan brought championship glory to North Carolina when he wore the original Air Jordan.
Judging from the recent events, Raila has been trying very hard to connect with the country’s youth generation. He has not only been seen wearing shoes mostly associated with the youth but also addressing the nation in Sheng – a slur language mostly used by the youth.
In June this year, Raila hosted a group of youth at his residence led by fashion guru Nairobi West Niccur who gifted him designers’ clothes and sneakers. The group gave the 76-year-old a hoodie, Yeezy sandals, and a Nike sneaker.
