Kenyan MP’s son barred from boarding plane in DRC

Webuye West MP Dan Wanyama’s son was left stranded at at the Kinshasa International Airport, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) after he was barred from boarding a plane.

A report by Daily Nation indicated that Bush Wamukota was barred from flying back to Kenya after he reportedly tested positive for COVID-19.

It was, however, noted that results from tests conducted earlier showed that he tested negative for the virus

Confirming the surprising incident, Congolese national team doctor Jacques Wanani said that he was shocked how the tests turned out positive.

“We could not board the plane and leave him in Kinshasa because his (Covid-19) results, just like some of my players who participated in that tournament, were negative.

“Where on earth did the airport officials get their results from and how were their results out so fast?” He posed.

He had flown to DRC to join TP Mazembe, a basketball team, for a local tournament which the team won.

Bush had hoped to catch the plane to Rwanda where he would fly into Kenya to join the Kenya Morans team for an upcoming game.
