Kalonzo endorses Ngatia for Nairobi governor

Former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka has thrown his weight behind the candidature of the Nairobi Gubernatorial aspirant and Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) president Richard Ngatia.
Kalonzo, who met Ngatia alongside his close ally former Kibwezi MP Prof. Phillip Kaloki, pledged his support for city billionaire who has emerged, since his entry into the Nairobi race, the clear front runner to become Nairobi’s fourth governor.
Prof. Kaloki is seen as the preferred candidate for Ngatia’s running mate and has in the recent days been seen together with Ngatia in majority of Ngatia’s public appearances.
Prof. Kaloki is an ally of the Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka and his endorsement for Ngatia could be seen as a move to cement the Ngatia-Kaloki ticket.
According to Ngatia, the Jubilee party leader President Uhuru Kenyatta will offer guidance on the party’s preferred candidate for the Deputy Governor in the Nairobi ticket.
Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi is one of Ngatia’s main challengers for the seat and has also been mentioned as a compromise candidate for the deputy governor position but the entry of Kalonzo’s Wiper Democraic Movement party into city politics has changed arithmetic with the former Vice President demanding a stake in the city leadership.
The business mogul has maintained a clear lead ahead of the city politician even as he advances the Azimio La Umoja Presidential candidate Raila Odinga campaigns, and his own, as the fourth governor of the city and Raila as the fifth President at the August 9th, 2022 general elections.
Ngatia is buoyed by his ever rising approval ratings and the popularity he has fast gained as one of the key leaders in the series of Raila Odinga popularisation campaigns.
