The Zambian women’s soccer team has been banned indefinitely from participating in the Olympics after it was discovered that one of their players had male genitalia.
However, the team had already suffered heavy defeats in Group B, which also included Australia, Germany, and the USA.
After the group matches, France, Canada, Colombia, the USA, Germany, Spain, Japan, and Brazil advanced to the quarter-finals.
France was in Group A alongside Canada, Colombia, and New Zealand, while Group C included Spain, Brazil, Japan, and Nigeria.
Zambia participated in the Olympics for the first time in 2021 when the games were held in Tokyo, Japan. They qualified after defeating more experienced teams like Cameroon, Nigeria, and South Africa.
