Woman Working Abroad Returns Home After 15 Years, Faints Upon Seeing She Has No House Despite Sending Millions to Her Brother for Construction

A heartbreaking story has emerged of a woman who, after working abroad for 15 years, returned home only to discover that the millions she had sent to her brother for constructing a house had been squandered.

The woman, whose identity remains undisclosed, fainted upon realizing that her long-held dream of owning a home had turned into a nightmare.

The emotional incident was captured in a video shared by @X_Dailly on X (formerly known as Twitter), which quickly went viral.

The video shows the distraught woman rolling in the mud and weeping uncontrollably, unable to contain her anguish over the betrayal by her brother. For 15 years, she had diligently sent money home, trusting her brother to oversee the construction of her dream home. Upon her return, she was greeted with the harsh reality that no house existed.

Netizens who saw the video were quick to offer their sympathy and opinions on the matter. Shedrack commented, “Heartbreaking!!!! This is bad. Keeping your money for yourself would have been better.

That guy no try.” Another user, Gabriel Bolatit, remarked, “15 years and you didn’t bother to come and check, use another third party to verify the claims. Lessons learnt in a hard way.”

The woman’s ordeal highlights a common issue faced by many Nigerians living abroad who entrust their hard-earned money to relatives for investments back home.

Ben Samuel empathized with her, saying, “It’s painful and sickening. Only a few of us can empathize with this poor woman. No one should blame her for not returning home in 15 years to check on the project’s progress. Her immigration status is clearly a factor, but many family members are evil and wicked.”

Other netizens offered advice and words of encouragement. Lucky Edi urged her to stay strong: “My own advice is for her to see everything as a challenge and she must not give in to the failure she sees presently. As time goes on, she will be surprised how all the sweat and blood she labored for will come back to her.”

Emelogu Emerald added, “If you live abroad, you don’t have to send money to your family members to help you with any investment, even if it’s building a house. Keep your money at home and execute your plans yourself.”
