US-based evangelist Wairimu Kimani (WK) has spoken out after being accused of leaking a controversial audio recording involving a woman named Damaris, which went viral on social media.
The audio features a conversation in which Damaris allegedly opens up about her relationship with Bishop Muthee Kiengei, a well-known clergyman, and discusses personal details about his wife, his lifestyle, and a recent incident at his church.
The leaked audio quickly sparked widespread online discussions, with netizens taking sides. Some supported Wairimu, while others sided with Damaris or Bishop Kiengei.
A portion of social media users expressed concern over the leak, arguing that the private conversation should never have been made public.
One Facebook user, Purity Macharia, criticized the handling of the situation, writing, “Why would you put your friend on speakerphone for such a sensitive discussion? It was meant to be private.” Others echoed similar sentiments, suggesting the leak was a violation of trust.
In response to the accusations, Wairimu Kimani took to Facebook to defend herself. She denied being responsible for the leak, claiming that one of two friends who were visiting her at the time of the conversation had breached her trust.
“A violation of trust from one out of two friends who were visiting me… A friend of 15 years! I know who did it. I’m devastated,” Wairimu wrote in her post.
