Residents of Gatunduguru village in Murang’a County are reeling in shock after a mother and her son were arrested for allegedly killing a close relative.
The tragic incident occurred on Saturday when the lifeless body of the victim, a man, was discovered in his bed.
According to police reports, the man was brutally beaten to death by his attackers, who accused him of stealing household items.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the incident was sparked by a family dispute. The victim had reportedly quarreled with the family, breaking a window during the altercation.
This confrontation escalated, leading to the fatal attack in which he was bludgeoned with a stick.
The disturbing nature of the crime has left the community in disbelief, as the mother and son were both involved in the violent act.
Authorities have detained the two suspects at Muthithi Police Station, where they are being held pending further investigations. Police are expected to present them in court once the investigations are complete.
Neighbors have expressed their shock and disbelief, describing the family as quiet and unassuming.
“It’s hard to believe that something like this could happen in our village,” said one neighbor. “They seemed like normal people, but you never know what goes on behind closed doors.”
