Kenyan athlete Ferdinand Omanyala has broken his silence a day after failing to qualify for the 100-meter final at the ongoing Olympics in Paris, France.
Through his Instagram page, Omanyala hinted that what he is going through in his life right now is a very difficult time, but he acknowledged that he knows everything is part of God’s plan.
The athlete thanked Kenyans who celebrated him despite his failure to qualify for the final, saying he is confident that Kenya’s history in the 100 meters will no longer be ordinary but will change.
“Whatever you are facing now – it is not the end of your story. God is with you and always will be. Thank you to everyone who believes that Kenya’s story will no longer be ordinary,” Omanyala wrote.
The athlete finished last in the semifinals and thus failed to secure a ticket to the final.
The finals witnessed even more intense competition, where all participants finished within 10 seconds, prompting the organizers to decide the winner using photo finish technology.
American Noah Lyles won the race, ending the USA’s 20-year wait for an Olympic 100-meter champion.
Despite Omanyala’s disappointing results, many Kenyans praised him for flying the Kenyan flag in races that were previously dominated by other nations.
“Amen. More water for your cup. Always continue to be a light. We appreciate you, brother,” Bien Aime Sol told him.
“You still made us proud! Onward and upward,” journalist Larry Madowo said.
“KING!!! Tomorrow is yours,” King Kaka added.
